What is developmental coaching?

Developmental coaching is one-on-one support that facilitates the emergence of new capabilities and worldviews in individuals who feel challenged in their lives. This, of course, describes most people, but developmental coaching is not for most people.

It is for those few who realize that our struggles are designed to evolve us beyond present limitations. These people sense that the squeezes of daily life—particularly at work and in relationships—signal that our current “operating systems” can no longer handle the complexities we face. For those who tap into fierce heart at such times, developmental coaching offers a way to more purposefully upgrade these operating systems.

I offer coaching for USCG members and veterans that addresses the following dimensions:

Work

I view difficulties at work as developmental opportunities and inspire habits that ensure your on-duty time also serves you.

Relationships

I regard challenges and conflict in relationship as grist for the mill and design practices to allow intimacy to evolve you and vice versa.

Purpose

I honor disillusionment and confusion as potential signs of mismatch between your passion, power, and purpose—and then explore ways you can rebalance these variables (within or beyond the USCG).

Identity

I help you integrate all of these areas within one Identity and foster new ways of being that remain after the coaching engagement ends.
